Medical Advisors & Researchers

Excellent medical advisors and researchers have become interested in our therapy including physicians and PhD investigators with national or international reputations. They help us design scientific studies that examine and measure our work. Under their expert guidance, we have begun publishing articles in peer-reviewed medical journals on some of the conditions that appear responsive to treatment, such as:

The physicians in this group, all experienced researchers, are distinguished practitioners with a lifelong commitment to women's health. They give us sound medical insights and valuable research guidance.

The two professional researchers have each had many decades of wide-ranging experimental and clinical research experience, including appropriate scientific methods to test, measure and quantify results.

In short, we and our patients are most thankful for the medical advisory and research staff shown below. In addition to studies already published, we plan to develop a major series of multicenter studies in various areas of treating infertility, pain and dysfunction. Our medical advisory and research staff includes:

C. Richard King, M.D.C. Richard King, M.D. is Medical Director of Clear Passage Therapies. Board-certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, he is a gynecologist with more than 35 years of clinical experience. Dr. King served as Chief of Staff and is presently Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. He is Medical Director of Florida Medical and Research Institute, P.A., a clinical and research facility oriented to gynecology and research in women's health.

Dr. King says of his involvement with Clear Passage Therapies, “I help bring oversight and guidance for research efforts. My many years of clinical gynecologic experience and my burning desire to explore the new ideas and therapies offered by Clear Passage provides me with a unique opportunity to continue to learn and grow.”

Dr. King received his M.D. at the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine in 1976.

Marvin A. Heuer, M.D.Marvin A. Heuer, M.D., is Research Advisor to Clear Passage Therapies, and an internationally recognized research physician. Dr. Heuer served as Vice President and Director of Clinical Research for IntegraMed, Inc. (Nasdaq: INMD) one of the largest providers of in vitro fertilization in the U.S. A respected researcher for most of his professional life, Dr. Heuer also served as Vice President of Smith Kline Beecham, Worldwide Research and Development.

Dr. Heuer is currently Chief Scientific Officer of Iovate Health Sciences, Inc., in Toronto, Ontario and Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Florida. Dr. Heuer received his M.D. at the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1973 and is also Board Certified by the American Board of Family Practice Physicians.

Jonathan J. Shuster, Ph.D.Jonathan J. Shuster, Ph.D. is an internationally recognized biostatistician. He has authored or co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Lancet, the British Journal of Surgery and New England Journal of Medicine. He is the author of the "Practical Handbook of Sample Size Guidelines for Clinical Trials." He is a former Chairman of the Epidemiology and Disease Control Study Section of the National Institute of Health (NIH). He has directed more than $20 million in NIH grant research.

After receiving his Ph.D. in Math-Statistics from McGill University in 1969, Dr. Shuster became a professor of the University of Florida where he is currently Research Professor in the Department of Statistics, College of Medicine. He also serves as Biostatistician at the General Clinical Research Center where he continues to direct NIH research projects.

Dr. Shuster plays an integral role in the study design and statistical analysis of the Clear Passage studies.

Eugenia S. Scharf, Ph.D.Eugenia S. Scharf, Ph.D., has been involved in scientific research and evaluation for more than 35 years. Dr. Scharf received her MS and Ph.D. in General Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and University of Chicago, respectively. Her involvement in health and medical projects began in 1995 as a researcher/writer for The Medical Advisor: The Complete Guide to Alternative and Conventional Treatments (New York: Time-Life Books, 1996).

Subsequently, Dr. Scharf became Senior Medical Editor and, in time, Editor of The Women's Health Digest, a journal founded by Morris Notelovitz, MD, Ph.D., an internationally known gynecologist and world expert on osteoporosis (CPT directors had the on-site physical therapy clinic for Dr. Notelovitz). The Women's Health Digest was later published under the auspices of IntegraMed (Nasdaq: INMD) one of the nation's largest providers of in-vitro fertilization (IVF) technologies.

Over the past three years, Dr. Scharf has provided independent review of the research methods, data charts, and statistical analyses of Clear Passage Therapies, which she says she finds "credible and technically sound." Dr. Scharf is a co-author of our published studies and continues to provide us with excellent guidance in our scientific investigations.
