The authors of ‘Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain’ prepare for their September 15 book publication and announce the launch of their social media and news site on adhesions, infertility, sexual dysfunction, and pain.

Gainesville, FL, September 11, 2009 – ‘Miracle Moms’ co-authors Larry and Belinda Wurn, recognized leaders in non-surgical treatment for female infertility and chronic adhesion pain, launch www.miraclemoms.net. This new site is geared towards news and online social connections about subjects in their upcoming book, ‘Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain: A Remarkable Journey in Hands-on Healing for Infertility, Pain, Sexual Dysfunction, and Adhesions.’

According to the National Center for Health Statistics, an estimated six million women in the US experience infertility, and that number is growing. Ovulation problems account for a big part of female infertility; warning signs include irregular or absent menstruation. Adhesions and blocked fallopian tubes are also major causes of infertility. Fallopian tubes can become blocked by adhesions after surgery, trauma, infection, or inflammation.

Adhesions can form whenever the body heals from infection, inflammation, surgery or trauma. Pelvic and abdominal surgeries such as laparoscopy, C-section or D&C are primary causes of adhesions. Traumas such as auto accident, fall, or abuse also cause adhesions. Infection and inflammation (endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, or STD) can all cause adhesions to form in the bowel or female reproductive organs. As adhesions grow, they can restrict normal body function and cause pain and dysfunction, including nearly half of all female infertility.

Women who experience infertility are commonly scheduled for a hysterosalpinogram (HSG) to see if their fallopian tubes are open and functioning properly. What many women don’t know is that the procedure itself can help a woman become pregnant.

A mucous plug blocking the fallopian tube

Sometimes, a fallopian tube fills with a small amount of mucous. This mucous can form after infections, inflammation, or similar events. If the mucous forms together in one spot, it can block the tube (a mucous plug) and prevent an egg and sperm from meeting.

During an HSG, a thin catheter is inserted through the cervix and into the uterus, where radioactive dye is injected into the fallopian tubes. The force of the dye can push any existing mucous out of the tube. If the mucous was completing blocking the tube before, the woman is now able to become pregnant.

HSG Procedure

A mucous plug should not be confused with hydrosalpinx or tubal occlusion. Hydrosalpinx occurs when the tube fills with toxic fluid and remains trapped, despite an HSG. A tubal occlusion occurs when a tube is completely blocked, usually due to adhesions.

At CPT, we treat both hydrosalpinx and blocked fallopian tubes. We frequently recommend that our patients with blocked fallopian tubes or hydrosalpinx schedule a follow-up HSG after treatment with us. The HSG not only allows women to visualize the effects of treatment, but it may also push-out any remaining mucous in the tube after treatment.

GAINESVILLE, Fla., Sept. 27, 2004 /PRNewswire/ — Struggling with years of infertility can be stressful and heartbreaking. But the battle is over for three friends who credit their success to a new “fertility massage.”

Alexandra, Angie, and Cathleen all attribute their children to a patent protected massage therapy called the Wurn Technique(R). The therapy, which uses no drugs or surgery, appears to decrease adhesions and scar tissue that cause half of all female infertility, according to physical therapist Belinda Wurn, co-developer.

“We use our hands to find adhered areas in and around a woman’s reproductive organs,” said Belinda Wurn. “We apply a sophisticated ‘massage’ to free the reproductive tissues from adhesions that prevent proper function and cause infertility.”

The therapy’s effectiveness was recently chronicled in Medscape General Medicine, Ob/Gyn & Women’s Health. The peer-reviewed journal reported 71% of infertile women conceived within one year after the treatments without any further medical or surgical intervention. A second study followed women who received in vitro fertilization (IVF) transfer after therapy. Two-thirds (67%) of the transfers resulted in pregnancy, beating the 41% national average reported by the CDC. But for the three friends, pregnancy came without surgical intervention.

Alexandra was the first of the three friends to discover the therapy’s success. With one blocked fallopian tube, and the other tube scarred and adhered from a C-section, her physician told her it was unlikely she would ever conceive again. Yet, she has had two children since therapy and is now pregnant again. “I recommended the therapy to my friend Angie who had been struggling with infertility for so long,” Alexandra said.

Angie was infertile for five years, with a history of endometriosis, miscarriages and seven failed intrauterine inseminations (IUI). But after receiving the new therapy, Angie also conceived naturally, and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. “I know that the therapy is what my body needed to be successful,” Angie said. She called her friend, Cathleen.

Cathleen was given a 5% chance of ever becoming pregnant, even with IVF. Her tubes were scarred and her fimbriae were clubbed with adhesions. After five years of infertility, and four IVF attempts, she was crushed. She had never had a single pregnancy. “Angie bugged me to try the therapy so I finally went. A few months after therapy, to my utter amazement, I was pregnant,” Cathleen said. Cathleen also gave birth to a little girl.

“We are very excited about the results we are seeing with our therapy. At least 60 babies have already been born or are presently expected by women who were diagnosed infertile,” said massage therapist Larry Wurn, co-developer of the Wurn Technique and Director of Clinical Studies at Clear Passage Therapies.
