Clear Passage Physical Therapy, World Leader in Natural Treatment for Pain and Infertility, Announces New Company Web site

Clear Passage Physical Therapy, founding company of the Wurn Technique® for the treatment of female infertility, and adhesion pain and dysfunction, announces the redesign of its website, www. clearpassage.com.

GAINESVILLE, FL – August 25, 2010 – Clear Passage Physical Therapy is pleased to announce the launch of its new website. The website, www.clearpassage.com, has a fresh new design, reorganized navigation, and new features, including:

Podcasts with streaming and downloadable episodes from Hands that Heal, interviews with the developers of the Wurn Technique

Educational eBooks and videos on treating female infertility, small bowel obstruction, endometriosis pain, post-surgical pain and adhesions, and much more

Free pdf book chapters from the Wurns’ book Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain

Social media connections and sharing capability

New informational pages for the Wurn Technique® and its treatment of Myomectomy Pain, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Chronic Neck Pain, Hysterectomy Pain, and Post-Mastectomy Pain

“The motivation behind this update was to provide an educational resource to the public on an alternative therapy for treating adhesion-related conditions, some of which were only thought treatable by surgery,” said Ashlynn Northcutt, Media Correspondent for Clear Passage Physical Therapy. The content-rich pages of this Web site provide a wealth of information to people searching for an effective natural treatment, or an alternative to drugs and surgery. In addition to therapy for women’s health conditions (female infertility, endometriosis, menstrual, and intercourse pain), the website now highlights other areas in which Clear Passage has seen success with men, women, and children.

The new home page design focuses on Clear Passage’s mission with the phrase, “We Treat, We Train, We Test.” Northcutt says, “Dedication to treating patients with the highest quality care, training skilled and reputable therapists in the Wurn Technique®, and conducting valid research to quantify the results of the therapy are the three pillars of Clear Passage.” These pillars will be employed as Clear Passage expands nationally by training and certifying physical therapists in major metropolitan areas. The national expansion will provide more locations for patients who travel from across the country and around the world for this unique physical therapy.

For more information, contact Clear Passage Physical Therapy at www.clearpassage.com or at 352.336.1433.

New York Times best-selling author and beloved authority on women’s health and wellness, Dr. Christiane Northrup, interviewed Larry and Belinda Wurn on her radio show, Flourish!

There was a delightful energy between Dr. Northrup and the Wurns as they discussed their journey in discovering the Wurn Technique®. Dr. Northrup commended the Wurns dedication in finding this technique in an effort to treat the source of Belinda’s own debilitating pain. What they discovered were tight, glue-like adhesions that formed as a result of the intense radiation therapy that Belinda endured during her battle with cervical cancer.

Larry and Belinda went on to explain that their pioneering work with fertility issues, sexual dysfunction, and bowel obstructions developed as a result of patient’s testimonies about natural pregnancies, increased function, and decreased pain following treatment at Clear Passage.

Dr. Northrup stated, “I’ll tell the entire world, I’m planning to come down and go through your program for five days.” Dr. Northrup has a true understanding of how adhesions can cause pain and dysfunction throughout the body.

Many people suffer from debilitating chronic pain and discomfort due to small bowel obstruction . Often times this pain is a mechanical obstruction due to adhesions that form. Many times the only option is a highly restricted diet or an invasive surgical procedure to cut away the part of the bowel that is obstructed with adhesions. Surgery, however, is also the cause of more adhesion formation, so though a surgical procedure may provide relief temporarily, the pain and dysfunction often return as more adhesions form. This can begin a never ending cycle of surgeries that can be both risky and costly. There is a natural alternative treatment for small bowel obstruction called the Wurn Technique®. You can read more about this natural treatment by reading our Small Bowel Obstruction eBook.

This eBook describes the cause and treatment of adhesions which can cause pain and dysfunction in the abdomen. Adhesions are thick fibrous bands of scar tissue that form following a trauma or surgery. These adhesions can attach to the delicate tissues of the small bowel and act as an adhesive glue that slows or stops regular function. The Wurn Technique® is a hands-on physical therapy has been shown to decrease pain and increase function by pulling apart these adhesions strand by strand. This allows the body to return to normal function.

Experts Reveal Alternatives to Risky Pharmaceuticals

Women who take the most common fertility drugs, progesterone and clomiphene, are at a greater risk to develop thyroid cancer than those who don’t, according to a study by the Institute of Cancer Epidemiology, Danish Cancer Society.

The 36-year study, which tracked thousands of women, discovered that women who took fertility drugs developed thyroid cancer at an increased rate over those who did not. Compounded with the previously documented risks of multiple births and other complications, many couples have begun seeking natural alternatives to the use of fertility drugs.

Belinda Wurn, PT, Clinical Director

“Some new drug-free programs avoid these risks,” said physical therapist Belinda Wurn, who developed a natural <ins datetime="2010-04-20T11:46" cite="mailto:amy">fertility treatment</ins> with her therapist husband. The treatment, a unique manual therapy, underwent clinical trials, and results have been reported in several medical journals, including Medscape General Medicine Ob/Gyn & Women’s Health.

In the first study, 71 percent of women diagnosed infertile by their doctors an average of five years, became pregnant naturally within one year of receiving the therapy. Most of the women gave birth, and several have had subsequent natural full-term pregnancies. While the total number of participants was small, the results were considered important enough to be published in a major peer-reviewed medical journal.

In another Medscape study, scientists examined the effectiveness of using the therapy before in vitro-fertilization (IVF) in women averaging five years of infertility. Those who had therapy before IVF transfer reported a clinical pregnancy rate of 67 percent. The control group (no therapy) had a 41 percent rate – the national average for clinical pregnancy after embryo transfer according to data from the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). Most of the pregnancies in the therapy group reported live births.

A study published in Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine showed that therapy opened totally blocked fallopian tubes, a procedure previously thought impossible without surgery. Of the women whose tubes opened (61 percent), most went on to have natural pregnancies and births.

The Wurns, co-authors of Miracle Moms Better Sex Less Pain – The ‘Clear Passage’ Story (www.miraclemoms.net), were initially looking for a cure for pelvic pain when they began seeing unexpected natural pregnancies in women diagnosed infertile. Surprised by their results, they expanded their work to develop a non-pharmaceutical treatment for female infertility. Several of their studies have provided statistically significant results.

After being diagnosed with cervical cancer and undergoing pelvic surgery, Belinda was pronounced cured. A short time later, she began to have a pulling sensation in her pelvis which quickly turned to debilitating pain. As she and her husband searched for an end to her pain, they soon realized that modern medicine was not the answer. Doctors told Belinda that the pain was due to adhesions caused by her surgery, and that the only way to relieve the pain was more surgery which would likely result in more adhesions.

That diagnosis began a 20-year journey of research and testing of a drug-free soft-tissue physical therapy that has been found safe and effective, and is now offered in several clinics in the USA. The treatment they perfected begins with a trained physical therapist locating abnormal tensions in and around the organs, muscles, and support structures of the body. Guided by her experience, precise knowledge of the anatomy and of her patient’s medical history, she applies a specific pressure to adhered areas. This pressure is designed to reduce the adhesions that formed in the body over time, and return the structures to normal mobility, tone, and function.

“Over time, we found that we were helping pain and dysfunctions beyond our original intent and out of the usual scope of physical therapy practice,” said Wurn. “Many of these ‘discoveries’ were uncovered by chance. Patients who came for treatment of chronic pain would often report dramatic improvement in seemingly unrelated areas, such as digestion, elimination, and reproductive or sexual function.”

About Larry and Belinda Wurn

Belinda Wurn began her education as a pre-med student at the University of Florida. Despite a straight-A average, Belinda soon realized that her heart was in a more “hands-on” approach. She transferred to the Physical Therapy program, graduated and began working. An artist when he and Belinda married, Larry Wurn is now a massage therapist and Research Director of Clear Passage Therapies, Inc. Miracle Moms Better Sex Less Pain – The ‘Clear Passage’ Story is available at www.miraclemoms.net.
The Wurns now have several ‘Clear Passage’ clinics across the United States –named from their experience opening blocked fallopian tubes. Their research articles and citations have been published in such respected Medical journals as Medscape General Medicine, Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine, Contemporary Ob/Gyn and Fertility and Sterility.

The Fibroid Treatment Collective (FTC) (http://www.fibroids.com), Los Angeles, has launched an annual observance called Fibroid Awareness Week scheduled this year for April 19th – 23rd, which is dedicated to education about fibroids that affect upwards of 50 percent of all women. Several special events will highlight the week, including a Fibroid Treatment Seminar on Wednesday, April 21 in Pasadena at 6:00 p.m. PST and a national Fibroid Treatment Webinar, Friday, April 23 at 5 p.m., PST. Both are free, and reservations can be made at www.fibroids.com.

Fibroid tumors are benign (non-cancerous) growths that appear on the muscular wall of the uterus. They range in size from microscopic to masses that fill the entire abdominal cavity, in some cases, as large as a five month pregnancy. Uterine fibroids can affect women of all ages, but are most common in women ages 40 to 50.

“We felt the best way to reach out to almost half the women around the world who may have symptoms of fibroids was through an annual educational observance and to disseminate accurate and timely information about diagnosis and treatment,” said Bruce McLucas, MD, founder of the Collective and a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist. “The Fibroid Treatment Collective was founded 12 years ago to educate women about fibroids and various treatment options,” he added.

Concern for the high number of unnecessary hysterectomies and dissatisfaction with other treatment outcomes led Dr. McLucas to become a non-surgical treatment advocate. His goal, and the mission of FTC, is to ensure women with fibroids know all the options when it comes to treatment. FTC advocates embolization as a safe alternative to other fibroid treatments.

In gynecology, embolization was used to reduce bleeding during uterine surgery. Founding members of the Fibroid Treatment Collective noticed another important effect. It shrank fibroids. The promise of an effective, non-invasive treatment led to research, trials and medical acceptance. Today more than several hundred thousand women world-wide have found relief with this safe, simple procedure. The Fibroid Treatment Collective performed the very first fibroid embolization in America, and has perfected the procedure with thousands of successful treatments to date. Dr. McLucas is one of the only gynecologists in America accredited in the skills necessary to perform embolization.

Women interested in learning more about Fibroid Awareness Week can join a national live chat Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. PST at www.fibroids.com.
