You may be wondering why it’s been a little while (OK — a long while!) since our last newsletter. We are thrilled to report, it’s because the last several months have been a whirlwind of excitement here at Clear Passage as we continue to grow in many exciting ways.
We are preparing to open new locations, in the U.S. and abroad, and are carrying out vigorous research efforts to measure the success rates of our treatment for various conditions. Our latest published study examines the ability of the Wurn Technique to reduce pain in women with endometriosis, with results rivaling those of surgery. We are also working to publish several additional studies by the end of this year, including a 10-year retrospective study of 1400 women treated for infertility.
In this issue of the Clear Passage Insider, we’ll also tell you about the support forum for bowel obstruction patients on our website.
New Clinic Openings: New York, Texas, London
We are excited to announce that by the end of 2014, Clear Passage plans to begin treating patients in New York City and Texas. We have a waiting list for our upcoming NYC and Texas clinics; please contact us for more details.
We are also working diligently to open in metro London. Stay tuned for updates and information about the therapists that will be directing these clinics!
We recently published a follow-up report in the Journal of Endometriosis, titled “Update on ‘Decreasing dyspareunia and dysmenorrhea in women with endometriosis via a manual physical therapy: Results from two independent studies.’”
This report assessed the long-term impact of the Wurn Technique on menstrual and intercourse pain in women with endometriosis. The results were excellent, showing:
- significant reduction in menstrual pain four and 12 months post treatment, and
- significant reduction in intercourse pain at four months and suggestive at 12 months post treatment, with 50% of patients reporting complete resolution of pain.
These statistics indicate that, when compared to the results of surgery, the Wurn Technique is at least as effective as this mainstream standard of care.
Small Bowel Obstruction Support Forum
Last month, we launched an online support forum – a place for people who have undergone one or more bowel obstructions to safely and anonymously discuss this subject with others. We created this forum in response to repeated feedback from bowel obstruction patients about the lack of an online support group with which they could connect.
The forum is moderated by Clear Passage founder Belinda Wurn, PT, and three former bowel obstruction patients. Having survived dramatic histories with multiple obstructions and surgeries, all are now living active lives – and avoiding further bowel obstruction surgeries.
Invited topics include diet, avoiding surgery, decreasing pain, treatments, coping strategies and more. We hope you will find answers, a place to share, and a helpful and informative resource at the forum.
We have successfully protected our patients from program cost increases for over 10 years. However, the continuing increase in expenses associated with running our business and conducting research is forcing us to raise our therapy costs. On November 1, 2014, our 20-hour program in all locations will increase to $7,500. You may secure the current rate of $5,200 with a $550 deposit – paid by October 31, 2014 and therapy scheduled to begin before December 31, 2014. Your deposit to secure the current rate remains 100% refundable until you schedule your therapy. Please call 1-352-336-1433 for additional details.
We maintain our policy to support existing patients by honoring quoted costs for continued care.
